Cameroonian goalkeeper Boris Ngoua, once a promising talent at Sporting Charleroi, has recently signed a one-year contract with Belgian side RFC Seraing, marking a significant milestone after a prolonged period of uncertainty in his career. In an exclusive interview with Africafoot, Ngoua shared the struggles he faced before securing his new deal and his aspirations for the future.
After parting ways with Sporting Charleroi, Ngoua returned to Cameroon to regroup and prepare for the next phase of his career. However, his journey was far from smooth.
He joined Ums de Loum but was sidelined by a lingering injury that kept him off the pitch for several months. Reflecting on this difficult period, Ngoua revealed, “When I came back from Cameroon, I had an operation, a skin graft.
After my operation, I went to Paris where I did my preparation. After a few months, my agents called me that there was an opportunity for me and if I was interested.
I jumped at the chance and after a few days of trial I was retained by Seraing.”
The 21-year-old, originally from Douala, now views his contract with Seraing as a vital opportunity to reignite his career.
“For a start with my new club, the important thing is to get back to 100% of my abilities.
I have been without playing for more than a year and for me the most important thing now is to get back on the field and find my sensations again.
That is the most important thing for me,” Ngoua stated. His determination to return to top form is evident, as he acknowledged the challenges posed by over 18 months of inactivity, but credited his resilience to “prayer and work.”
Despite the long absence from competitive football, Ngoua remains focused on proving his value to his new team.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and healthy competition within the squad. “Speaking of competition in the club, it is healthy.
Everyone is there to show what they are worth because we are in a club where everyone wants to play, but unfortunately only one will be able to play.
The most important thing for me is to get back to training in order to come back to 100% and then we will see,” he explained.
Ngoua also disclosed that he had received trial offers from clubs in France and Finland but ultimately decided to remain in Belgium. “Yes, I had several opportunities to do the trials.
In France and Finland, but with my family and my agents we preferred to stay in Belgium. I am in Seraing and I am fine, but we will see later,” he shared.
As Ngoua prepares to make his debut for Seraing, possibly in their upcoming match against Eupen’s reserve team, he is eager to leave the challenges of the past behind and focus on his future.
His story is one of perseverance and determination, qualities that will undoubtedly serve him well as he seeks to reestablish himself as a key player for his new club.
