Besiktas reject Al Diriyah bid for Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi

Besiktas have reportedly turned down a €7 million bid from Saudi Arabian side Al Diriyah for Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, signalling their determination to keep one of their key midfielders ahead of the new season.

According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, the Black Eagles are not prepared to sanction the Nigerian’s exit unless an offer matching their €10 million valuation arrives. The report suggests the Istanbul club see Ndidi as an integral part of their plans and are unwilling to negotiate below their asking price.

The rejection comes amid growing transfer interest in the 29-year-old, who has emerged as a target for clubs in both Saudi Arabia and Europe following an impressive first season in Turkish football.

Ndidi’s impressive debut raises transfer interest

Ndidi joined Besiktas from Leicester City last summer after ending his long association with the English club and wasted little time establishing himself as a key figure in midfield.

Although injuries interrupted parts of his campaign, the experienced midfielder still featured in 31 matches across all competitions, scoring twice and providing one assist. His performances, leadership and ability to control games made him one of Besiktas’ standout performers during the season.

Those displays have now attracted interest from multiple clubs seeking to strengthen their midfield before the start of the new campaign.

Besiktas unwilling to compromise

Despite the growing attention, Besiktas appear determined not to lose their midfield anchor on the cheap.

The Turkish giants are reportedly standing by their €10 million valuation and have made it clear they will only entertain offers that meet their demands.
