Former Rayo Vallecano forward Bebé has praised the club’s remarkable progress while also delivering a strong message on respect within football, both on and off the pitch.

Having spent some of the most stable years of his career at Rayo, the Cape Verde international describes the Madrid-based side as more than just a football club, crediting its family-oriented environment for his personal and professional growth.

“Rayo is a family team… the people feel at home.”

His connection to the club remains strong, and he has followed their recent success with pride, including their push on the European stage. Bebe believes the unity within the squad has been central to their evolution into a competitive force.

“The group counts a lot.”

He is optimistic about their chances of achieving further success, pointing to the club’s structure and culture as key strengths in high-pressure competitions.

“I think Rayo can make history once again.”

Beyond club football, Bebe also addressed the broader issue of fan behaviour, drawing from personal experiences during his career. While acknowledging the passion supporters bring, he stressed that there must be limits to criticism.

“The fans have the right to shout… but I don’t think anyone has the right to… insult.”

His comments reflect a growing conversation within the game about the balance between accountability and respect. Bebe emphasised that players, despite their public roles, remain human and deserve to be treated with dignity.

“Respect has to be mutual.”

Now at UD Ibiza, Bebe is focused on helping the club secure its status while maintaining a positive dressing room atmosphere. As one of the senior figures, he sees unity and professionalism as essential, particularly in challenging moments.

“I always try to… form a group with the players.”
