Bayern Munich twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with FC Augsburg in a chaotic Bavarian derby at WWK ARENA, with Robin Fellhauer scoring the fastest goal in Bundesliga history after only eight seconds.
Manuel Neuer’s costly mistake allowed Fellhauer to run through and finish into an empty net, leaving Bayern chasing the game despite dominating possession and creating the majority of the chances.
Bayern had about 70% of the ball and registered 29 shots to Augsburg’s 12, but a series of offside decisions and individual errors prevented them from taking all three points. Harry Kane was central to their recovery, supplying both assists and hitting the woodwork.
From the opening kick-off, the ball was played back to Neuer. The Bayern goalkeeper took a heavy touch as he attempted to lift it over the advancing Fellhauer, but the ball struck the Augsburg player and rebounded into his path for the simplest of finishes.
Bayern controlled the territory after falling behind. Kane hit the crossbar, while Augsburg almost extended their advantage when Chrislain Matsima sent a close-range attempt wide from a corner.
Luis Diaz appeared to have equalised in the 51st minute, but VAR ruled out his effort for offside. Bayern did find a leveller four minutes later when Kane played a precise pass to Saibari, who finished neatly.
Augsburg regained the lead against the run of play in the 64th minute. Neuer parried Calvin Brackelmann’s low shot from distance, but the ball fell to Ribeiro, who converted from close range.
Bayern had two further goals disallowed for offside, including efforts by Serge Gnabry and Luis Diaz. They eventually secured a point when substitute Nathaniel Brown finished from close range after a move down the left involving Kane and Aleksandar Pavlovic.
