Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde will miss the Copa del Rey final on April 26 due to a hamstring injury, dealing a major setback to the club’s trophy chase.
Balde picked up the injury in the first half of the recent clash against Leganés. Tests conducted on Monday confirmed the worst the talented full-back faces nearly a month on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old had shown signs of strong form this season, becoming a regular in the starting lineup and winning the support of fans with his pace and energy down the left flank.
The club’s medical team is now focusing on getting him fit in time for the Champions League semifinal first leg. That remains a tight race against time.
In the meantime, Barcelona will turn to backup options to fill the gap. Losing Balde for such a crucial stretch of the season is a big challenge for Hansi Flick’s side as they aim for silverware on multiple fronts.
