Arsenal lift 18th Community Shield as Ødegaard sets the tempo against Manchester City

Christos Tzolis also caught the eye with a lively display that unsettled Manchester City’s defence while contributing defensively.

Tzolis had 42 touches, including six inside the opposition penalty area, and won five duels. He regained possession four times, made three defensive tackles and intercepted the ball twice.

His attacking contribution was just as significant. He created three chances, two of them clear opportunities, won two fouls and delivered two key passes.

The performance made Tzolis a constant source of pressure for Manchester City and helped Arsenal maintain their authority throughout the match.

White helps Arsenal keep a clean sheet

Ben White played a major role in ensuring Arsenal finished with a clean sheet, producing a strong defensive display against Manchester City’s attack.

The England defender won six duels, recovered possession five times and completed five successful tackles. He also made three clearances and two interceptions as Arsenal repeatedly dealt with the dangers posed by their opponents.

White committed two fouls and created one chance, but his most important contribution came in a decisive moment when he cleared the ball off the goal line.

That intervention underlined his value to Arsenal’s defence and helped preserve a result that marked an emphatic start to their season. While Haaland was unable to make his usual impact, Ødegaard and his team-mates ensured Arsenal’s dominance was reflected in both the scoreline and the destination of the trophy.
