Arda Guler strikes as Real Madrid extend lead at Valencia

Arda Guler scored Real Madrid’s second goal in the 37th minute as they increased their advantage over Valencia at Mestalla in the 12th round of La Liga.

Valencia’s defence failed to deal with a mistake, allowing Jude Bellingham to drive into the penalty area. The England midfielder then sent a low cross towards the centre, but the ball struck defender Tarrega before falling to Guler, who was positioned just behind him.

The Turkey international made no mistake with the chance, firing into the net to give Real Madrid a two-goal lead.

Real Madrid had taken control of the match earlier through Fede Valverde, who opened the scoring with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.

Valverde reacted first after Valencia failed to clear a free-kick delivered by Kylian Mbappe, completing the move with a long-range finish.
