Antoine Semenyo targeted in racial abuse

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has once again been subjected to racist abuse on social media, months after a similar incident earlier in the 2025/26 English Premier League season.

The latest episode followed Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last Sunday, a match in which Semenyo featured for the full 90 minutes.

After the game, the 26-year-old celebrated the win on Instagram but was met with a racially abusive comment directed at him.

Responding to the post, he wrote: “It’s started again…”, referencing a previous incident in December 2025 during his time at AFC Bournemouth, when he was also targeted after a 4-2 defeat to Liverpool.

The recurrence of the abuse has renewed concern about the persistent issue of online racism in football, despite repeated anti-discrimination campaigns across the sport.

Semenyo, who joined Manchester City in January 2026, has made a strong impact at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 15 league goals so far this season and helping the club to Carabao Cup success.
