Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush claim FA Cup glory with Manchester City
Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo and Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush have won the FA Cup with Manchester City after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
Semenyo emerged as the match-winner, scoring a spectacular 72nd-minute goal that secured City’s domestic cup double under Pep Guardiola. The Ghanaian striker produced a moment of brilliance with a daring backheel flick from Erling Haaland’s cross that left Robert Sanchez helpless and nestled into the back of the net.
The final was far from a classic, with Chelsea adopting a cautious approach in the first half. Joao Pedro stood out for the Blues as their primary attacking threat, while Robert Sanchez grew increasingly busy as City raised the tempo after halftime.
Marmoush started the match for City but was substituted at halftime for Rayan Cherki as Guardiola looked to adjust his attacking options. Chelsea came agonizingly close to equalizing when Moises Caicedo’s header forced Rodri into a crucial goal-line clearance.
The victory completes a domestic cup double for Manchester City, who lifted the Carabao Cup earlier this season, while Chelsea finish another disappointing campaign empty-handed.
