Ansu Fati faces six-week absence after hamstring injury at Monaco
Ansu Fati is expected to spend around six weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during AS Monaco’s 1-1 draw against Lille OSC on Sunday.
According to a report by Nice-Matin, the 23-year-old playmaker faces another spell out of action after an injury-disrupted start to the season.
Fati had only recently returned to regular involvement with Monaco after missing the beginning of the campaign through injury.
Injury interrupts Fati’s return to form
The Spaniard suffered the injury just 15 minutes into Sunday’s Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade Louis II, forcing Monaco to replace him with Mathys Detourbet.
The setback came after Fati had begun to establish himself in the team, making consecutive starts in Ligue 1 and occupying the number 10 position against Lille.
His latest appearance had followed an encouraging contribution against SC Freiburg on Thursday. Although he started that match on the bench, Fati came on in the second half and scored in Monaco’s 3-0 victory.
Monaco hope for December return
Fati is now expected to miss approximately six weeks, with the hope that he will recover in time to return shortly before the winter break at the end of December.
The latest setback is another disappointment for the playmaker, whose attempts to build consistency at Monaco have been interrupted by injuries.
His recovery will be closely watched as the club await his return to action.
