André Onana and Fabrice Olinga feud explodes amid accusations of betrayal

Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana and former national team colleague Fabrice Olinga have publicly clashed following a wave of serious accusations, adding a volatile chapter to their already strained relationship.

The tension reignited just a day after Manchester United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham on 21 May, when 29‑year‑old Olinga, who has been without a club since July 2024, unleashed a series of inflammatory allegations against Onana.

He accused the Manchester United custodian of using occult practices and even targeting his family—remarkable claims given their shared history in the national squad during 2018 and 2019.

Olinga’s public outburst, labelled by many as “shooting the ambulance,” did not stop there. A month later, he deepened the rift in an interview on Cameroonian radio station RSI. Olinga framed his grievances around a perceived personal betrayal.

“He was once my friend,” Olinga declared. “I have principles and I’ve reached a point in my life where I can speak my mind. I’ve been a loyal friend and he hasn’t. We will never be able to sit at the same table again.”

The clearest sign of discontent was Olinga’s assertion of fractured trust, suggesting an enduring rift born of moral or personal disagreement.

Despite the weight of his words, Onana has yet to respond publicly.

Public reaction in Cameroon has been sharp. Many fans of the Indomitable Lions—particularly supporters of Onana, who captains both his national side and Manchester United—have accused Olinga of envy and misdirected resentment.

They point to Olinga’s waning career in contrast to Onana’s steady rise as explanation enough for his bitterness.

Onana, 29, has earned 48 caps for Cameroon and maintains his position as a key figure on both club and international fronts.

Olinga, once a highly promising forward, has seen his career stall; he hasn’t represented a club since mid‑2024.

The rift has sparked broader conversation in Cameroonian media and among fans about sportsmanship, loyalty, and the pressures of professional athletics.

Both men once stood side by side representing their nation, yet now, bitterness dominates the headlines.

Given the pointed nature of the accusations, observers expect official statements from either player or their respective camps. Until then, the disagreement remains firmly in the court of public opinion—darkened by allegations of personal betrayal and moral attack.

Though the feud has deteriorated relationships between former teammates, it also highlights a deeper challenge: managing personal integrity and public perception in modern football.

For now, Cameroon finds itself watching two prominent figures in the sport engage in a battle of reputation—and the wider implications for their legacies remain uncertain.
