The Confederation of African Football (CAF) notified the management of the USM Alger on Tuesday that their upcoming match against Al-Hilal of Libya in the fifth round of the African Confederation Cup, scheduled to be held at the Martyrs’ Stadium in Benina, will take place without spectators.
CAF clarified that the Disciplinary Committee has imposed the penalty of playing without spectators on the host team, Al-Hilal, following incidents during their previous match against Modern Future.
This sanction comes in response to the actions of Al-Hilal supporters, who ignited flares on the field during their last fixture.
USM Alger, the defending champions, will travel to Libya to secure a victory and maintain their lead in their group.
It is worth noting that USM Alger currently leads Group C with 10 points, three points ahead of their closest pursuer, Egypt’s Modern Future, which has accumulated 7 points.
Meanwhile, Al-Hilal Benghazi of Libya and Super Sport share the third spot with 3 points each.
