Al Karma close to signing Pyramids striker Marwan Hamdy

Al Karma are close to completing a deal to sign Pyramids striker Marwan Hamdy, with the Iraqi club understood to be nearing an agreement for the Egypt international.

The Iraqi side are managed by Momen Soliman, who is set to oversee the arrival of the experienced forward as Al Karma continue to strengthen their squad.

Marwan Hamdy currently plays for Pyramids and is reportedly close to moving to the Iraqi club. The transfer would represent another stage in a career that has taken the striker through several of Egypt’s leading clubs.

Al Karma already have two notable foreign-based additions in their squad. Egypt winger Ahmed Abdel Kader, formerly of Al Ahly, is part of the team, while Nigerian player Samuel Amadi recently joined from Ceramica Cleopatra.

Hamdy began his professional career with El Nasr before moving to Misr El-Makasa. He later played for Wadi Degla, continuing his development in the Egyptian league before earning a move to Zamalek.

During his time with Zamalek, Hamdy won the Egyptian Premier League title. He subsequently left the club for Al Masry, where he continued his career before joining Pyramids.

His spell with Pyramids has brought further success at domestic and continental level. He helped the club win the CAF Champions League in the season before last, as well as the CAF Super Cup, the Three Continents Cup and one Egyptian Cup title.

The proposed move to Al Karma would see Hamdy leave Pyramids for a new challenge in Iraq. While the deal has not yet been formally completed, the player is understood to be nearing a transfer to Soliman’s side.

The latest information about the negotiations was reported on Friday, 7 August 2026. If finalised, Hamdy’s arrival would add attacking experience to an Al Karma squad that already includes Abdel Kader and Amadi.

The transfer would also reunite Hamdy with a new football environment after a journey that has included El Nasr, Misr El-Makasa, Wadi Degla, Zamalek, Al Masry and Pyramids. His honours include the Egyptian league with Zamalek, along with the CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup, Three Continents Cup and Egyptian Cup with Pyramids.
