Al-Ittihad extend unbeaten run against Al-Fayha to 10 matches with 2-1 win

Al-Ittihad extended their unbeaten record against Al-Fayha to 10 consecutive matches in the Roshn Saudi League after earning a 2-1 victory at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah on Tuesday.

The result keeps Al-Ittihad in pursuit of the teams at the top of the table and marked their second successive league win. Their latest success means they have now avoided defeat against Al-Fayha in every one of their past 10 meetings in the professional competition.

Al-Ittihad have won seven of those matches and drawn three, making it the longest unbeaten sequence in their history against the orange-shirted side in the Roshn Saudi League, according to Al-Riyadiya.

The home side took the lead shortly before half-time. Nigerian forward George Ilenikhena broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute, putting Al-Ittihad ahead after a closely contested opening period.

Al-Fayha responded in first-half stoppage time, with Jason Remeseiro scoring in the fourth minute of added time to send the teams into the interval level at 1-1.

Al-Ittihad had to wait until the 68th minute to restore their advantage. Morocco international Youssef En-Nesyri converted a penalty to put his side back in front and ultimately secure all three points.

The victory takes Al-Ittihad to 14 points from their opening six matches. They remain one point behind leaders Al-Hilal and second-placed Al-Qadsiah as the early-season race at the top of the Roshn Saudi League continues.

For Al-Fayha, the defeat was their third of the campaign. They remain on five points and sit 11th in the table.

Al-Ittihad’s latest win also continues a particularly strong run in this fixture. Their record of seven victories and three draws across the past 10 league meetings gives them a clear advantage in the recent head-to-head standings, while extending the club’s longest unbeaten sequence against Al-Fayha in the competition.
