Al Ahly’s management is working to strengthen the attack with an under‑23 signing during the current winter transfer window.
Coach Jess Thorup has asked specifically for a young centre forward, while board member Sayed Abdelhafiz is pushing to add a high‑quality right winger.
Kooora reports that one of the main names initially targeted was Algerian striker Mohamed El Amine Ramdani from Paradou. However, Paradou are demanding around 2 million dollars for the player, a price Al Ahly consider excessive, which has forced the Egyptian champions to look at alternatives.
At the top of the new shortlist is Zambian winger Pascal Phiri of Zesco United, who had been close to joining Pyramids FC, although that deal has not yet been finalised. Abdelhafiz is said to be very impressed by Phiri’s speed and profile and has started serious discussions with the player and his agent.
He is weighing Phiri against two other candidates: Jordanian winger Awda Al Fakhouri of Al Hussein Irbid and Iraqi wide man Mostafa Qabeel of Erbil.
For now, the African winger has the edge because of his greater pace and ability to stretch defenses, qualities Thorup values highly for the coming stage of the season.
