Al Ahly fights for justice after league match fiasco
The management of Al Ahly has taken a bold stand, lodging a formal grievance with the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee over the unplayed league match against Zamalek, originally set for March 11 in the league play-offs’ opening round.
The highly anticipated clash never kicked off, stalled by the absence of foreign referees a sticking point that has fueled the club’s frustration.
An Al Ahly source, speaking exclusively to Kooora, outlined the club’s four key demands. The first insists on upholding their right to have the summit match officiated by foreign referees.
“The Red Castle management specified the word ‘play it’ and not ‘replay it’ because they notified officials not to go to Cairo Stadium a full 24 hours before the match,” the source emphasized.
The second demand seeks to scrap the Professional Clubs Association’s ruling on the matter, while the third calls for a probe into correspondence from the Egyptian Clubs Association about securing foreign officials, alongside Al Ahly’s own letter on March 10.
Finally, the fourth demand asserts the club’s right to escalate the issue to sports authorities if needed.
