Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller was left to rue missed chances following their narrow win over Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian powerhouse cruised to a 1-0 win over Al Hilal in the first leg of the quarterfinals held at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.
Mohamed Hany’s early strike was enough to secure victory for the defending champions at their own backyard.
“We needed to capitalize on our opportunities more, but our performance declined in the second half, and our concentration was lacking, which led to our failure to convert our opportunities into goals.”
“Qualification will be based on the aggregate score of the two matches, and we must prepare strongly for the second leg,” Koller added.
He concluded, “We are performing well both defensively and offensively.”
Al Hilal will play host to Al Ahly in the return leg clash scheduled for next week Tuesday in Mauritania.
