Al Ahly close door on European bids for Mostafa Shobeir as Ammouta backs goalkeeper

Despite growing interest from Europe, Al Ahly have decided that Mostafa Shobeir will not leave the Egyptian club during the current summer transfer window.

The club have received a $2.5m offer from Danish side FC Nordsjælland for the Egypt international, according to Africa Foot. Al Ahly have also been approached by a Czech club seeking to sign the goalkeeper, as several European teams continue to monitor his situation.

However, the Egyptian club’s position is understood to be clear: Shobeir is not available for transfer this summer and remains an important part of the squad planned for next season.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper’s record underlines his significance to Al Ahly. He has made 70 appearances for the club, playing a total of 6,058 minutes. During those matches, he has conceded 44 goals and kept 38 clean sheets.

Africa Foot reports that Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta is relying heavily on Shobeir as part of his sporting plans for the team. The Moroccan manager views the goalkeeper as an important component of his side and intends to use him during the forthcoming campaign.

Ammouta is understood to believe Shobeir can play a significant role as Al Ahly pursue major honours and seek to add to their collection of trophies. For that reason, the coaching staff have not included the possibility of his departure in their current plans, despite the increasing number of European approaches.

French club Troyes also expressed an interest in signing Shobeir several weeks ago, according to information previously published exclusively by Africa Foot. That interest has added Troyes to the list of European clubs keeping track of the Egyptian goalkeeper.

Reports linking Shobeir with a move to Italy, specifically through Como, or with a transfer to FC Nordsjælland do not match Al Ahly’s current stance. The club’s decision is to retain its key players rather than weaken the squad during the summer market.

Al Ahly’s management have informed the players that transfer offers will not be considered for negotiation at this stage. The club want to preserve their main assets and retain the core of the team ahead of the new season.

As a result, Shobeir’s departure remains unlikely, even with the $2.5m proposal from FC Nordsjælland, the separate Czech offer and interest from other European clubs. His future could only change if new developments lead Al Ahly to reconsider their position, but for now the goalkeeper remains firmly part of Ammouta’s plans.
