Al Ahly aim to secure Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany renewals before international break

Al Ahly are seeking to finalise new contracts for defenders Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany before the start of the next international break.

The Egyptian champions are due to face Al Mokawloon Al Arab on Thursday in the fourth round of the league, with the club hoping to resolve the players’ futures shortly after that fixture, according to information obtained by FilGoal.com.

Al Ahly want to complete negotiations with both players before the international window begins. Once the immediate contract discussions are concluded, the club’s attention is expected to turn towards their upcoming meeting with Zamalek.

The schedule also lists Al Ahly’s match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab as taking place on Wednesday. They will then face Abu Qir Fertilizers on 15 September, in what will be their final game before the international break.

Egypt are scheduled to begin their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign during that period. The national team will play Angola on 25 September before meeting South Sudan on 29 September.

Egypt will then face South Africa in a friendly on 4 October. The Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek is due to take place on 11 October, in the sixth round of the league.

The contracts of both Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany are set to expire at the end of the current season. Al Ahly therefore want to make progress on renewals before the club’s schedule becomes focused on the derby and the fixtures that follow the international period.

Yasser Ibrahim has been part of Al Ahly’s defensive group, while Mohamed Hany has continued to feature at right-back. The club’s intention is to avoid allowing the two agreements to run into their final months without a resolution.

Al Ahly have already renewed the contracts of three other players. Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour and Mostafa Shobeir have all agreed new deals with the club.

The attempt to retain Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany comes as Al Ahly manage a busy sequence of domestic and international commitments. Their match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab is the next immediate deadline, followed by Abu Qir Fertilizers before the national-team fixtures.

The club’s priority is to settle the two renewals as soon as possible, with the period after the Al Mokawloon Al Arab game identified as the preferred time to conclude the negotiations. The contracts remain valid until the end of the season, but Al Ahly are seeking an agreement before their focus shifts to the clash with Zamalek and the remainder of the campaign.
