Al-Ahli Saudi reschedule final training after Al-Khaleej fixture delay

Marino Pusic has acted quickly after Al-Ahli Saudi’s Roshn Saudi League match against Al-Khaleej was postponed by 24 hours.

The game had been scheduled for Thursday at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, with Al-Ahli Saudi due to host Al-Khaleej in the 11th round of the competition.

However, the Roshn Saudi League announced on Thursday that the fixture would instead be played on Friday because of logistical difficulties that prevented Al-Khaleej’s squad from travelling by air from Dammam to Jeddah.

According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, Al-Ahli Saudi head coach Pusic immediately arranged an evening training session for his players on Thursday. The session will serve as the team’s final preparation for the rearranged match.

The Dutch coach had already held what was intended to be the final session on Wednesday. The postponement meant that training had to be repeated, with Pusic concerned that the players could be affected physically if they did not train on Thursday.

Al-Ahli Saudi are fifth in the Saudi league table with 18 points, seven points behind leaders Al-Qadsiah. The Jeddah side, though, have played one match fewer than the teams above them.
