Ahmed Mostafa Zizo has officially joined Al Ahly on a blockbuster four-year deal, following the expiration of his contract with arch-rivals Zamalek.
The contract includes an option for a fifth year, depending on mutual agreement.
A key figure in Egyptian football, Zizo’s move is seen as a major statement from Al Ahly ahead of the Club World Cup. The attacking midfielder will travel to the United States on Friday to link up with his new teammates at their pre-tournament training camp.
A source at the club told Kooora that Zizo’s total annual package is worth EGP 70 million. Of that, EGP 30 million comes directly from Al Ahly, while the remaining EGP 40 million comes from advertising deals secured by Al Ahly Football Company.
Zizo also received an early bonus through his appearance in a promotional video alongside other Al Ahly stars, including a spot in a cinema ad.
Club officials say the goal is to fund signings through sponsorships to ease pressure on the club’s finances in the near future.
