Ahmed Abdu: Al-Faisaly eye move for free agent Saudi-Eritrean forward
Saudi-Eritrean centre-forward Ahmed Abdu, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Faisaly as the top-flight outfit explore low-cost attacking options this summer.
Abdu, 29, left NEOM SC at the start of July and is available on a free transfer after his contract came to an end. He is understood to be on Al-Faisalys shortlist as they look to add depth in the final third without committing to a major fee, with the forwards current valuation standing at around 250,000.
The Jeddah-born striker has extensive experience in Saudi football, having featured in both the Pro League and the First Division across spells with Al-Wehda, Al-Shabab and Abha before joining NEOM SC midway through the 2024-25 campaign. His most productive form has come in the second tier, where he has scored 15 goals in 34 appearances.
Abdu played a part in NEOM SCs Saudi Arabian second-tier title success in 2024-25, boosting his profile as he approached the final year of his deal. Prior to that, he built a reputation as a reliable contributor in domestic cup competition, registering eight goals in 11 Kings Cup outings.
Al-Faisaly are weighing up whether Abdus experience and recent promotion-winning campaign make him a suitable addition as a free signing. For now, the forward remains unattached and free to negotiate with interested clubs ahead of the new season.
