African transfer latest: Massanga switches to Eyupspor as Awaziem signs for Konyaspor

Congo-Brazzaville midfielder Chandrel Massanga has ended months of speculation over his future by signing for Turkish Super Lig side Eyupspor, while Nigeria defender Chidozie Awaziem has completed a move to league rivals Konyaspor from FC Nantes.

Massanga, 26, had been tracked by several clubs in recent months and was previously linked with a number of potential destinations. Eyupspor confirmed on their official X account that the defensive midfielder has now joined the club, keeping him in the Turkish top flight after three seasons with Hatayspor.

No fee was disclosed by Eyupspor, but Massanga’s market value is currently estimated at €500,000. His move marks the latest step in a career that has seen him establish himself in the Super Lig, where he will now look to build on his performances in a new environment.

Massanga’s decision draws a line under a lengthy transfer saga that had attracted attention across African football. Reports had suggested interest from multiple teams, with Africafoot reporting exclusively that he was on the radar of several clubs before opting for Eyupspor.

Awaziem completes Konyaspor switch

Konyaspor have announced the signing of Chidozie Awaziem from FC Nantes in a permanent deal. The Turkish club revealed on Instagram that the 29-year-old centre-back has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2028.

Konyaspor are understood to have paid €1m to secure the Nigeria international, whose market value is listed at €2.5m on Transfermarkt. The move gives Awaziem a long-term platform in Turkey and adds experience to Konyaspor’s defensive options.

Awaziem leaves FC Nantes after a spell in which he accumulated further top-level European experience. The switch to Konyaspor offers him the chance of regular football in the Super Lig and the opportunity to re-establish himself as a key figure at club level.

The transfers of Massanga and Awaziem underline the continued appeal of the Turkish Super Lig to African players.
