Africa awaits key 2027 AFCON qualifiers draw in Egypt

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed the date and venue for the draw ceremony of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The next edition of the continental tournament, branded as “Pamoja 2027,” will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

The tournament will mark a historic milestone as the first Africa Cup of Nations to be organised by three countries together.

It will also represent the return of the competition to East Africa for the first time in 51 years, adding extra significance to the event across the continent.

When and where will the draw take place?

CAF confirmed that the qualifiers draw ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association inside the National Teams Centre in Sixth of October City, Egypt.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM Cairo time and is expected to attract major attention from football fans and media outlets across Africa.

The event will feature several prominent African football figures and legends who are expected to participate in the draw proceedings.
