The Team Manager of the Egyptian national team, Ibrahim Hassan, has expressed his joy following their qualification to the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.

The Pharaohs defeated Ivory Coast 3-2 in the quarterfinals clash on Saturday at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, setting up a tricky encounter against Senegal at the continental showpiece.

It promises to be a thrilling clash, as both teams will be yearning for victory to secure a place in the finals of the tournament, being held in Morocco.

In an interview, Ibrahim Hassan stressed his outfit had great faith in God before the tough clash against Ivory Coast.

“I don’t know, it was a very, very important match for us and a victory with a different taste and a special joy. We succeeded in eliminating Ivory Coast, the champion of the last edition, and we reached the semi-finals.”

“Despite some people exaggerating the strength of the Ivorian team, they are certainly a very strong team, but we had great faith in God.” He told ON Sport.

“We are the Egyptian national team, and the players of the Egyptian national team are characterized by (goodness), and we worked with our hearts, and thank God we succeeded in qualifying.”

“There is no easy match and we know that what is coming is difficult, but as long as we work conscientiously and we have a lot to offer for our country, and the players are characterized by a high spirit, and a technical director like Hossam Hassan innovates, works and plans, and before all of that, God’s blessing, which is number 1.”

“The most important thing now is to congratulate the people of Egypt. Congratulations to Egypt and to everyone who truly loves Egypt.”

The match between Egypt and Senegal is a repeat of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final in Cameroon, where the Taranga Lions triumphed over the Pharaohs to clinch their first AFCON title.

Besides, the Taranga Lions prevented the North African country from securing a spot in the upcoming 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar, making the upcoming clash a tough one.

Egypt last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010, defeating Ghana 1-0 to annex their seventh title on the continent.
