Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet stressed that Egypt’s players are fully ready for Friday’s crucial clash with South Africa in the second round of Group B at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking at Thursday’s press conference, he said everyone is focused on taking all three points to seal qualification for the last 16 and to erase the painful memory of losing 1–0 to South Africa in the 2019 edition.
Trezeguet underlined that the game is very important against a strong opponent, noting there is constant communication between Hossam Hassan’s coaching staff and the squad to highlight positives, fix mistakes and improve quickly. He described the atmosphere in camp as committed and united around a single target.
“We were the better side throughout the Zimbabwe match and reached their box more than 33 times, but we only scored twice. We have focused in training on the need to make the most of our chances and turn attacks into goals in the coming games.”
“We approach every match as if it is the tournament final, and our goal is to keep winning step by step and lift the trophy.”
