Abdessamad Ezzalzouli transfer to Roma dismissed by agent Alejandro Camano

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli will remain with Real Betis for now, according to his agent Alejandro Camano, who has rejected reports that the Morocco winger is close to joining Roma this summer.

Speculation had suggested that Roma were nearing an agreement to sign Ezzalzouli as they look to strengthen their wide options before competing in the Champions League next season. However, Camano said no deal had been concluded and that the player’s immediate future remained with Real Betis.

“Transfer to Roma? Ezzalzouli is continuing with Real Betis as normal, and nothing has been decided as has been reported,” Camano told Sport.

Ezzalzouli, who is also known as Ez Abde, was one of Real Betis’ leading players last season. He scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances for the Spanish club.

Reports from Mundo Deportivo previously claimed that Real Betis would not be willing to negotiate his departure for less than 50m euros. The Morocco international’s contract also contains a release clause worth 60m euros.

Barcelona retain a 20% sell-on percentage for the player, meaning the Catalan club would be entitled to a share of any future transfer fee involving Ezzalzouli.

Roma are searching for a winger to add depth and attacking quality to their squad ahead of their Champions League campaign next season. The Italian club’s reported interest had led to growing uncertainty over whether Ezzalzouli would leave Real Betis during the current summer transfer window.

Ezzalzouli began his football career in Barcelona’s youth system before being promoted to the first team in 2022. He subsequently spent time on loan with Osasuna and Real Betis.

His move to Real Betis was later made permanent, and he has since established himself as an important member of the club’s attacking group. Despite the reports linking him with Roma, his representative has made clear that Ezzalzouli is currently continuing his career in Seville and that no transfer agreement has been reached.

For now, the winger remains under contract with Real Betis, while any potential move to Roma would depend on further negotiations and the terms of his release clause.
