Following Toulouse’s equalizer by Wissam Ben Yedder, Djilobodji elbowed the Franco-Tunisian striker after a confrontation near the touchline. Ben Yedder, along with other attackers, attempted to retrieve the ball quickly for a throw-in, putting pressure on the Nantes team.
In the heat of the moment, Djilobodji lost his cool and delivered an elbow to Ben Yedder’s jaw, resulting in a red card for the Senegalese defender. Djilobodji later expressed remorse for his actions, stating to Canal+ after the match that he was angry after the goal and lashed out, but subsequently apologized in the opponent’s locker room.
Despite his apology, Djilobodji is likely to face disciplinary action for his conduct during the match.
