Houssem Aouar, the star player from AS Roma, has expressed his readiness to contribute to the Algerian national team’s efforts, despite facing illness that initially kept him from joining the squad’s training camp.
He affirmed his preparedness to make a difference in the upcoming friendly match against South Africa scheduled for Tuesday, in the framework of the Algerian International Friendly Tournament.
Speaking to the media, Aouar stated, “We are facing a tough opponent, a team that plays beautiful football, as evidenced by their performance in the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
The match will undoubtedly be challenging, considering both teams are among the continent’s finest.”
Acknowledging the challenges ahead for Algeria’s new head coach in familiarizing himself with various aspects of the team, Aouar emphasized the unity within the squad.
He highlighted the cohesive nature of the group and their shared goal of bringing joy to the Algerian people.
“I can confidently say that we are on the right track. The training camp during Ramadan was highly productive, and we are striving diligently to achieve more positive results,” Aouar concluded, expressing optimism about the team’s progress and prospects moving forward.
