Ahmed Hegazi, the defender for Al-Ittihad Jeddah Club in Saudi Arabia, has rejoined the Egyptian national team camp just hours before the scheduled match against Croatia on Tuesday evening at the New Administrative Capital Stadium in the final of the Egypt Capital Cup friendly international tournament.
In an official statement, the Egyptian Football Association announced Hegazi’s return to the camp after a short trip lasting a few hours to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to check on his family.
Hegazi was granted permission by the Egyptian national team’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, to leave for Saudi Arabia due to urgent family circumstances, with his family currently residing in Saudi Arabia.
With his return, Hegazi becomes available for selection for Egypt’s match against Croatia in the friendly tournament’s final.
During Egypt’s semifinal match against New Zealand, the Al-Ittihad Jeddah defender was on the substitutes’ bench.
In the latest training session of the Egyptian national team ahead of the Croatia match, players from the one-legged football team were invited by the coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan.
Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet,” the player for Trabzonspor in Turkey and the Egyptian national team, gifted his personal shoe to one of the one-legged football team players.
On the other hand, Mohamed Sherif, the striker for Al-Khaleej Club in Saudi Arabia, was absent from Egypt’s national team training due to a cold he caught.
A source from the coaching staff confirmed that Sherif would be ready for the match, but Hossam Hassan preferred to rest him to ensure his availability for the Croatia encounter.
