Cagliari, Italy – Zito Luvumbo, the 21-year-old Angolan striker, was conspicuously absent from Cagliari’s training session on Monday, March 4, 2024. This development comes on the heels of his premature exit during Sunday’s match against Empoli, where he visibly suffered a muscle injury.

Following Cagliari’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Empoli, Claudio Ranieri swiftly mobilized his squad for a post-match training session on Monday.

In adherence to the club’s structured regimen, the team was divided into two groups to facilitate specific exercises, as outlined in the official press release issued by the club today.

“The team convened this afternoon at the CRAI Sports Center in Assemini (…). Two working groups were formed: players who played a significant role in the victory against Empoli engaged in recovery exercises encompassing both the gymnasium and the pitch.

For the others, the coaching staff orchestrated ball possession drills, followed by confined-space matches, interspersed with high-intensity athletic conditioning.

The sessions were tailored for Simone Aresti, Pantelis Hatzidiakos, and Ibrahim Sulemana. Notably, Zito Luvumbo was granted a rest,” the press release elucidated.

Luvumbo’s absence can be directly linked to his halftime withdrawal from the Empoli encounter due to an apparent muscular ailment. Presently, the exact nature and duration of his absence from the pitch remain undisclosed.

Further diagnostic assessments are slated to be conducted to ascertain the severity of the injury, shedding light on the timeline for his return to active play.
