Danny Jordaan, President of the South African Football Federation, has publicly acknowledged differences in opinion with South Africa’s coach, Hugo Broos, on various matters. Despite these disagreements, Jordaan commended Broos for his tenacity and recognized his role in the success of the South African national team in the recently concluded AFCON 2023.
South Africa exceeded expectations in the tournament, securing a commendable third-place finish. In reflecting on the team’s performance, Jordaan emphasized the fighting spirit and determination exhibited by Coach Hugo Broos.

“I would like to once again thank the coach. We have started a long journey, we have had many arguments with him, and he is not going to run away from a fight.
He is a good fighter and he will not leave. You know he has very strong opinions and he’s not afraid to express them.
In the end, you could see the team coming together, and the team playing was his creation. I want to thank him for not backing down, for working tirelessly to build the team he believed would win the AFCON,” expressed Danny Jordaan.
