The Egyptian Football Association has dismissed Hossam Hassan and appointed Ali Maher as the new head coach of the national team.
Hassan’s departure follows several days of speculation about his future. Egypt are expected to begin their training camp on 9 November, with the squad list due to be announced in the next few hours.
The Pharaohs currently lead Group B in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, having collected four points from their opening two matches.
They began their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Angola before recording a 5-0 victory over South Sudan in their second game.
Egypt’s next opponents are Malawi. The Pharaohs will host the Malawians on 13 November before travelling to face them away from home on 17 November.
