PSG monitor Dayot Upamecano as Bayern face release clause threat

Bayern Munich could face a difficult situation next summer, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly monitoring Dayot Upamecano amid uncertainty surrounding a release clause in his contract.

The French defender signed a new deal with the Bundesliga champions in February 2026, committing his future to the club until June 2030.

However, according to FCB Inside, the agreement reportedly includes a €65 million release clause that becomes active in the summer of 2027. If triggered, Bayern would have limited control over his future, potentially opening the door for interested clubs.

PSG are believed to be keeping a close eye on the 28-year-old, having previously expressed interest before his contract extension.

The French champions reportedly view Upamecano as a possible long-term successor to Brazilian defender Marquinhos, who has been an important figure in their backline for several years.

Despite the growing speculation, there have been no reports of concrete negotiations between PSG and the player’s representatives over a potential transfer.

Bayern will hope their continued progress under Vincent Kompany convinces Upamecano to remain in Munich rather than pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

The reported release clause has not been officially confirmed by the club.
