Andoni Iraola hails Alexander Isak after reaching seven goals for Liverpool
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has praised Alexander Isak’s goalscoring qualities after the Swedish striker netted his seventh goal of the season during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League defeat to Fenerbahce.
The 26-year-old came off the bench to score for the Reds in their 3-2 loss in Istanbul, continuing an impressive run in front of goal.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace, Iraola described Isak as an outstanding goalscorer and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver when given the right opportunities.
“Alex is a top goalscorer,” he said.
“If we can put him in the position to score, he will deliver. It’s not a guarantee but it’s the closest thing to a guarantee almost.”
Iraola also highlighted the striker’s movement, technical ability and capacity to attack spaces behind opposing defences.
“Like every player, he can add more things to his game. We want to use the things that he has, he is very good also attacking the spaces, attacking the channels, coming to receive [the ball]. I think he is technically clean also. We are trying to use him in the best way,” he added.
Isak has now scored seven goals in 13 appearances this season, almost doubling his previous campaign’s tally.
