Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka will be out for several more weeks after failing to recover from a quadriceps injury, manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed.
Saka suffered the problem during Arsenal’s Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich last month and remains unavailable as the London club enters an important stage of the season.
Arteta was speaking at his news conference on Friday, ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match against Hull City on Saturday, 07 November 2026.
“We are talking about weeks. We will have to wait and see, but after the international break he will start to return to the pitch,” said Arteta.
“Unfortunately, he will be out for a period.”
The update means Saka will miss England’s two Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain this month. He will instead continue his treatment and rehabilitation programme away from the demands of competitive football.
Arteta said Arsenal would not put pressure on the club’s medical staff to accelerate Saka’s recovery, with the player’s complete rehabilitation the priority before he returns to action.
“We don’t want to rush him back,” Arteta indicated, stressing that Saka must be fully recovered before being considered for selection. No specific date has been set for his return.
Saka’s absence adds to the injury concerns affecting Arsenal, with the club facing a demanding run of fixtures. His continued unavailability will also deprive England of one of their main attacking options for the Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.
Arteta waits on Konsa assessment
There was more encouraging news regarding Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa, who was forced to leave the field with knee pain during Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Slavia Prague.
Arteta said Konsa was feeling better, although Arsenal have yet to make a final decision on whether he will be fit for the club’s forthcoming matches.
“Konsa is feeling better. We are waiting for a final assessment of his condition before deciding whether he can play in the upcoming matches,” Arteta said.
Arsenal face Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday, 07 November 2026, while the club continues to assess the fitness of players affected by injury.
