Paul Onuachu says Mohamed Salah has helped Trabzonspor develop

Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu has praised team-mate Mohamed Salah and thanked the Egypt international for his contribution to the Turkish club’s progress.

Trabzonspor suffered a 1-0 defeat by Freiburg in the third round of the UEFA Conference League league phase. Lucas Holer scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute.

Speaking to reporters, Nigeria international Onuachu said: “Everyone wants to work with a star of Mohamed Salah’s stature. He adds a great deal to us with his experience and quality, contributes positively to the development of our team and has a good influence on us.

“I am grateful to him. Look at how far we have come as a team with him.”

Salah started for Trabzonspor and threatened the Freiburg goal, but was unable to find the net.

The defeat was Trabzonspor’s first in the Conference League this season, after they opened the competition with victories against Finnish side KuPS and Scottish club Hearts.

Trabzonspor remain on six points and have provisionally dropped to eighth place, pending the completion of the matches in this round. Freiburg also have six points and are 11th.
