Businessman and former football analyst Walter Mokoena has agreed to meet the Moroka Swallows Shareholders Steering Committee, according to KickOff.
Mokoena is behind the revival of the club, which has been relaunched under the name Moroka Swallows SC.
The development has, however, led to tension within the club’s support base. The Dube Birds Supporters and Shareholders Steering Committee has publicly distanced itself from the newly announced entity.
A source told KickOff that the committee, which represents the supporters and is led by secretary general Mr. [Oliki] Hlalele, had provided an update on the situation.
“They are having three meetings with Mokoena, and only then will they be able to update us as supporters fully,” the source said.
The source added that supporters had not been told whether the first or second meeting had already taken place.
“They told us in our Swallows supporters’ WhatsApp group ID that we must just continue to be patient,” the source said.
“They will be meeting Mokoena in three meetings before they call a general meeting to inform the supporters about the outcome of the three meetings.”
The committee’s process means supporters are still waiting for clarity on the future direction of Moroka Swallows SC and the relationship between the revived club and those representing the existing support base.
“So, we are still waiting,” the source added.
