Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Dr Patrice Motsepe has congratulated Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, after they secured a place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Motsepe is expected to travel to Rabat to watch the final on Saturday, November 7, when Nigeria take on Japan as they seek to win their first-ever world title at the competition.

The Flamingos’ qualification for the final represents a significant moment for Nigerian women’s football and offers Africa another opportunity to celebrate success on the global stage.

In recognition of their achievement, Motsepe has called on all 54 CAF member associations to rally behind Nigeria as the team prepares for the decisive encounter.

The CAF president’s planned presence at the final underlines the continental governing body’s support for the Nigerian side as they attempt to make history.

Nigeria will be aiming to become the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with Japan standing between them and a historic triumph.

The final is expected to attract considerable attention across the continent, with African football supporters hoping the Flamingos can complete their impressive campaign by lifting the trophy.

A victory would mark a landmark achievement for Nigerian football and further strengthen Africa’s presence in women’s football at youth level.
