Moussa Sylla remains doubtful for Schalke’s Bundesliga trip to Hoffenheim
Moussa Sylla is facing another setback in his bid to return to action for FC Schalke 04 after failing to rejoin full team training ahead of Sunday’s Bundesliga encounter against TSG Hoffenheim.
The 26-year-old forward continued his individual rehabilitation programme on Wednesday, completing running exercises rather than participating in the team’s regular training session.
According to reports from Germany, Sylla is still recovering from a leg injury sustained during Schalke’s 2-1 defeat against SC Freiburg on October 11.
The Malian international has already missed Schalke’s subsequent three Bundesliga fixtures against Mainz 05, FC Köln and RB Leipzig.
His continued absence from team training means the possibility of featuring against Hoffenheim remains uncertain, with time running out ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
Sylla’s absence represents a setback for head coach Miron Muslić, who has been dealing with several injury problems within his squad.
The striker had made five competitive appearances this season before sustaining the injury, recording one goal and one assist.
Schalke will travel to face Hoffenheim on Sunday, November 8, hoping to improve their Bundesliga form.
However, unless Sylla makes significant progress in the coming training sessions, the forward could be forced to miss another important fixture.
