Eintracht Frankfurt are preparing another move for Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, with the French forward remaining their preferred attacking target ahead of the January transfer window.

The Bundesliga side have continued monitoring the 24-year-old since his departure last summer and are reportedly optimistic about the possibility of bringing him back to Deutsche Bank Park.

According to Absolut Eintracht, Frankfurt have not abandoned their interest in the former Rennes striker, with the chances of securing another deal described as promising.

Kalimuendo previously spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Frankfurt, where he quickly established himself as an important member of the squad.

He scored six goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances, helping strengthen the club’s attacking options before returning to Nottingham Forest at the end of his loan spell.

His situation in England has been considerably less encouraging. The forward has struggled to secure regular playing time under Nottingham Forest’s coaching staff, recording just five appearances and 110 minutes across competitions this season without registering a goal or assist.

His limited involvement could make another move to Germany an attractive option as he looks to revive his campaign.

Frankfurt prioritise two January signings

Kalimuendo is not the only player Frankfurt are targeting ahead of the winter transfer window.

According to Frankfurter Rundschau, the club have identified two priority positions for reinforcement: centre-forward and full-back.

The attacking department remains a particular concern, with Kalimuendo viewed as the preferred candidate to strengthen head coach Adi Hütter’s options.

Frankfurt previously explored a permanent transfer after his successful loan spell, but Nottingham Forest’s reported €27 million asking price proved too expensive for the German club.

A fresh loan arrangement, potentially including an option or obligation to buy, could provide a more realistic route to completing the deal.

With January approaching, Frankfurt will hope to find an agreement with Nottingham Forest and bring Kalimuendo back to the Bundesliga.

For the striker, a return to familiar surroundings could offer an opportunity to rediscover the form he showed during his previous spell in Germany.
