Achref Abada attracts interest from Al Ahly and Al Shamal ahead of January

Achref Abada is attracting interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Qatari side Al Shamal following his impressive start to the season with USM Alger.

The Algerian defender has emerged as a potential target for both clubs ahead of the January transfer window, with his performances and potential making him an attractive option for teams looking to strengthen their defensive departments.

Al Shamal are reportedly among the clubs keen to secure his services, with reports from the Qatari press suggesting that the defender has become one of their priorities for the winter transfer window.

The Qatari club are understood to be impressed by Abada’s qualities and the defensive assurance he could bring to their backline. They are now considering a move to bring him to the club as they look to address an issue in their defence.

Their interest has reportedly been accelerated by an injury to Jeison Murillo, who is expected to spend around three months on the sidelines.

The Colombian defender picked up the injury during Al Shamal’s match against Al Hilal, forcing him to leave the pitch before the end of the encounter.

His absence has increased the need for defensive reinforcements, with Abada viewed as a possible candidate to fill the gap during the second half of the season.

However, Al Shamal are not alone in their pursuit of the USM Alger centre-back, as Al Ahly are also keeping a close eye on his situation.

The Egyptian Premier League giants have reportedly renewed their interest in the Algerian defender as they assess their options ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

According to reports, intermediaries linked to Al Ahly have already made contact with Abada’s representatives to establish whether he would be interested in a move to Cairo.

Such interest could set up a transfer battle between the two clubs when the January window opens, although securing an agreement with USM Alger could prove difficult.

Abada remains under contract with the Algerian club until the summer of 2029. His current agreement also contains no release clause that would allow him to leave without the club’s approval.

This means any potential move will depend heavily on USM Alger’s willingness to negotiate and sanction his departure.

With the winter transfer window approaching, Abada’s situation is one to watch as Al Ahly and Al Shamal consider their next moves.

For USM Alger, the decision will be whether to retain one of their defensive players or entertain offers for a player who has attracted growing attention from abroad.
