Leverkusen linked with South Africa winger Relebohile Mofokeng
South African winger Relebohile Mofokeng is being linked with a move from Union Saint-Gilloise to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old joined Union SG from Orlando Pirates on 2 July 2026 in a deal worth €3.5m and has made an impact during his first campaign in Belgium. Mofokeng has scored four goals and provided two assists in nine Jupiler Pro League appearances, while also contributing one goal and one assist in three Europa League matches.
Mofokeng, who plays on the left wing and prefers his right foot, has also featured for South Africa at the 2026 World Cup, making three appearances. He was named South Africa’s Footballer of the Year in 2026 after helping Orlando Pirates win the domestic league and cup before moving to Europe.
His performances have seen his market value rise to €6m, although there is no indication of a proposed transfer fee or whether negotiations have taken place between the clubs.
The reported interest comes only four months after Mofokeng moved to Union SG, where he has already won the Belgian Super Cup. His contract with the Belgian club runs until 30 June 2030.
