Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta backs Emam Ashour to return stronger
Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta has backed midfielder Emam Ashour to return to his best form in the coming weeks, despite admitting that the influential midfielder is not yet fully fit.
Ashour remains an important figure in the Egyptian giants’ squad, with Ammouta expressing confidence in his quality and ability to make a strong contribution as the season progresses.
Speaking after Al Ahly’s 1-0 victory over Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the Egyptian League Cup, the Moroccan tactician praised the midfielder while explaining that he was still working towards regaining full match fitness.
“Emam Ashour is one of the best players, there is no doubt about that. He was not 100% ready, but he will return strongly in the coming period,” Ammouta stated.
The Al Ahly boss believes the midfielder has the quality to make a significant difference to the team once he returns to peak condition, offering encouragement to the club’s supporters over his prospects.
Beyond Ashour’s situation, Ammouta reiterated Al Ahly’s determination to compete for victory in every tournament, stressing that the technical team approaches every fixture with detailed preparation.
He disclosed that the coaching staff studies at least five matches of each opponent to assess their strengths and weaknesses before developing a tactical approach.
“Within the limits of the available means and capabilities, we watch at least five matches of the competitor, and we always work to impose our style and way of playing during the encounters,” he explained.
Ammouta also identified squad rotation as an important component of his management strategy, particularly with Al Ahly facing a demanding schedule across different competitions.
According to the Moroccan coach, rotating players helps maintain the squad’s fitness levels and ensures that every member remains prepared to contribute whenever the opportunity arises.
His comments come after Al Ahly edged past Al Mokawloon Al Arab in their second Group C fixture of the League Cup, a result that strengthened their position in the competition.
