The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has suspended all matches scheduled for Tuesday in the Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina following the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel, who was 30.
De Miguel died after suffering complications from a heavy collision during Tenerife’s match against FC Andorra.
The federation said the decision was taken as a mark of respect and solidarity following the player’s death. First-round matches in the Copa del Rey Mapfre and Copa de la Reina Iberdrola due to be played on Tuesday have been postponed.
The official presentation ceremony in Almendralejo for the friendly between Spain Under-21s and Japan Under-21s has also been cancelled.
The RFEF said it would announce revised dates for the postponed matches, along with an updated competition schedule, in due course. No replacement dates have been confirmed.
The schedule information included CD Badajoz in the Copa del Rey on 04 November 2026. It also listed Tenerife, Andorra and Mallorca in the Segunda Division on 08 November 2026.
The federation offered its condolences to De Miguel’s family, friends and supporters, as well as Tenerife and the club’s fans.
It said the Spanish football community stood alongside them during what it described as a difficult time.
