Willy Moloto set to resume Polokwane City duties after illness

Polokwane City coach Willy Moloto was due to return to work on Monday after spending 10 days on sick leave.

Moloto was absent from 21 to 31 October, with the nature of his illness not disclosed. He confirmed earlier on Monday that he was expected back with the team.

“I’m going back today,” Moloto said, although he was unable to comment further.

The coach missed Polokwane City’s goalless draw with TS Galaxy at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium at the weekend. He was also absent from the bench when his side were eliminated from the last 16 of the Carling Knockout by Siwelele on penalties on October 24.

Assistant coach Mkhuseli Sentane took charge of the team during Moloto’s absence. Sentane had previously said the club remained in regular contact with the head coach while he was away.

Moloto replaced Phuti Mohafe at the start of the campaign and has overseen a difficult opening to the season with Polokwane City.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Moloto spent a week in a private hospital in Polokwane after collapsing during a league match against AmaZulu at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in September.

Polokwane City will enter the FIFA international break in 11th place in the PSL standings, having recorded one win from their nine matches.

Their next league fixture is away to Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium on November 24, when domestic competition resumes.
