Liverpool are working to secure Rio Ngumoha’s long-term future, with sporting director Julian Ward making a new contract for the young winger one of his main priorities.
The Reds hope to complete negotiations during the next international break, according to TEAMtalk, as they seek to protect the position of one of the most highly rated prospects in their squad.
The broad terms of a potential agreement have reportedly been discussed with Ngumoha’s representatives since September, shortly after the player celebrated his 18th birthday. Ward, who took up his role at the end of September, has since become closely involved in the negotiations and wants the matter resolved as quickly as possible.
Liverpool’s determination to retain Ngumoha was illustrated during the most recent summer transfer window. Bayern Munich expressed an interest in the English winger, but Liverpool rejected the German club’s approaches.
The Anfield club regard Ngumoha as an important part of their sporting plans and have no intention of allowing him to leave. His current contract runs until 2028, but his growing influence within the first-team squad has encouraged Liverpool to consider fresh terms.
Ngumoha has gradually taken on greater responsibility after a series of performances that have increased his standing within the squad. The left winger, who is of Nigerian origin, has also attracted attention because of his development and potential.
His market value is now estimated at 50 million euros by Transfermarkt. Liverpool are therefore keen to remove any uncertainty surrounding his contract before he becomes a more prominent target for major European clubs.
The next international break could prove important in determining whether the two sides can finalise an agreement and further secure Ngumoha’s future at Anfield.
Before then, Liverpool are due to face Arsenal in their ninth Premier League fixture. The odds listed by 1xbet put Liverpool’s victory at 3.00, a draw at 3.40 and an Arsenal win at 2.38.
