Yan Diomande could earn RB Leipzig a further €2.5m if he wins the Ballon d’Or during his career, under a clause included in his transfer to Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger moved to the Spanish club in a deal reportedly worth €125m, with a further €15m available through performance-related bonuses. Philipp Hinze reports that one of those clauses is specifically linked to the prestigious individual award.
Should Diomande claim the Ballon d’Or, RB Leipzig would receive an additional payment estimated at about €2.5m. The provision reflects the expectations Real Madrid have placed on the young forward.
Diomande’s pace, technical ability and skill in the final third have helped establish him as one of the most highly regarded emerging talents in African football. His potential was a significant factor in attracting interest from Real Madrid.
The Ivory Coast international is now valued at €120m by Transfermarkt. He has signed a contract with Real Madrid until 2033, giving him a long-term platform to continue his development in the Spanish capital.
Diomande will now aim to build on his progress at club level, with the Ballon d’Or clause offering an indication of the ambitions surrounding his future.
