Pyramids FC extend winning run to 13 matches under Rulani Mokwena

Pyramids FC kept their Egyptian Premier League title challenge on course by beating Wadi Delga to record a 13th successive victory under manager Rulani Mokwena.

The result came after Al Ahly SC had defeated their opponents 1-0 earlier in the day, reducing Pyramids’ advantage at the top of the table to one point. With the pressure on to respond, Pyramids set out to secure maximum points.

They made an ideal start when Mahmoud Saber opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a long-range effort. The goal continued Saber’s impressive run, with the midfielder having now scored in three consecutive matches, including in Pyramids’ CAF Champions League meeting with El Merriekh.

Wadi Delga responded before half-time. Ahmed Abdeen, a relatively unfamiliar goalscorer, levelled the match seven minutes before the interval with a well-taken header, leaving the sides 1-1 at the break.

Pyramids returned from half-time with renewed intensity and regained the lead in the 58th minute. World Cup star Mostafa Ziko finished after being found by a pull-back from Mohanad Lasheen.

The goal took Ziko’s total number of goal contributions for the season to seven and restored Pyramids’ four-point advantage over Al Ahly SC in the Egyptian Premier League.

Pyramids, the 2025 CAF Champions League winners, will now turn their attention to the league cup before renewing their league rivalry with Al Ahly.
