Rosenior refuses to explain Moses Simon’s reduced role ahead of Paris FC’s Monaco clash

Paris FC manager Liam Rosenior has declined to shed light on Moses Simon’s limited playing time this season, leaving questions over the Super Eagles winger’s role ahead of Sunday’s Ligue 1 meeting with AS Monaco.

Simon has struggled to secure regular opportunities under the English manager since joining Paris FC from Nantes in July 2025, with his reduced involvement becoming a talking point as the club prepares for the trip to Monaco.

The Nigerian international has made six league appearances this season, accumulating just 166 minutes of action and starting only once.

His limited involvement represents a considerable reduction from last season, when he featured in 29 Ligue 1 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

The winger’s situation was raised during Rosenior’s press conference on Friday, but the Paris FC manager avoided providing a direct explanation for his reduced playing time.

Rosenior keeps Simon’s situation under wraps

Rosenior was questioned about the availability and involvement of several players, including Simon, Omar Sissoko and Jean-Philippe Krasso, ahead of the encounter with Monaco.

However, the former Chelsea manager refused to disclose specific details about their situations, offering little indication of how the trio fit into his plans for Sunday’s fixture.

Instead, he revealed that only half of the players facing doubts over their availability would make the matchday squad, leaving uncertainty over the final selection.

“All I can say is that 50% of these players will be in the squad on Sunday,” Rosenior was quoted as saying by L’Equipe.

“There are still many questions. This isn’t meant to be disrespectful to the journalists or the fans. We have a good squad.”

The manager insisted that Paris FC had several options to consider as he prepares his team for the Ligue 1 encounter, stressing the importance of selecting players capable of making an impact throughout the game.

“We’ll choose the best team to start and finish as strongly as possible in Monaco. There are many options.”

Simon faces battle for regular minutes

Simon’s reduced involvement this season marks a notable change from his previous campaign, when he was a regular contributor for Nantes in the French top flight.

His six appearances and 166 minutes so far have left him with limited opportunities to influence Paris FC’s performances, particularly after establishing himself as an important attacking option at his former club.

The 30-year-old remains one of Nigeria’s experienced attacking players, having represented the Super Eagles in several major international competitions.

However, with Rosenior yet to provide clarity on his situation, Simon faces continued competition for a regular place in the Paris FC starting lineup.

Sunday’s meeting with Monaco could offer another opportunity for the winger to increase his involvement, although Rosenior’s comments suggest that the final selection will depend on the manager’s assessment of the available options.

Paris FC will be hoping to secure a positive result against Monaco, while Simon will be keen to earn more minutes as he looks to regain a prominent role in the French league.
